The Regenerative Soil Primer

The Regenerative Soil Primer typically consists of Rejuvenate, SeaShield, and an inoculant like Spectrum applied to the soil in the fall and/or in the spring to increase soil biology. The program has been observed to:

  • Increase porosity and soil tilth

  • Digest crop residue rapidly

  • Improve organic matter

  • Decrease chance of overwintering disease

  • Boost microbial population

  • Increase bioavailability of macro- and micronutrients in the soil

  • Build natural resistance to disease and insect pests

How does the program increase soil biology?

Part 1: Microbial Inoculant

Spectrum™ contains a multiple species blend of plant growth promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) and other beneficial plant growth promoting microorganisms (PGPMs). This specially formulated soil inoculant enhances and restores beneficial soil microbe populations to augment the natural mineralization processes that occur in healthy soils.

Part 2: Bacterial Food & Shelter

Rejuvenate™ is a blend of carbohydrates, enzyme cofactors, and humic substances designed to provide the commonly missing resources needed by fledgling bacterial populations, which are the base of your farm ecosystem. Rejuvenate ensures a successful inoculation event, getting microbes established in all manner of conditions.

Part 3: Fungal Food

SeaShield™ is a combination of biologically active organic compounds from fish, crab, and shrimp. SeaShield is an available source of nutrients for microbes and plants. The amino acid nitrogen supports the growth of beneficial fungal populations, which are often seriously lacking in farmed soils and contribute greatly to the fertility cycling of a crop.

Why should I apply the soil primer?

In the spring, growing and developing crops need an abundance of nutrients, chiefly calcium and nitrogen, from the soil. With the Regenerative Soil Primer, soils can provide the nutrients needed for crop quality and disease resistance.

How can the Soil Primer be applied?

There are several ways to effectively get the Soil Primer down into the soil

  • Watering can

  • Handheld or backpack sprayer

  • Boom sprayer

  • Fertigation

Looking for a custom regenerative ag program for the whole season?

Consultant and Grower in the field.png

Our consultants work with large growers to create customized crop programs, combining our biological and mineral nutrition products with regenerative practices to improve crop quality, yields, and disease and insect resistance while regenerating soil health.

If I cannot afford all three Soil Primer products, is there one you recommend?

We recommend all three since they each bring very different characteristics. If you have to choose between the three Regenerative Soil Primer products, we recommend Rejuvenate™ as it is a nutrient-packed food source for soil microbial communities. Please note that this product will not get your soil biology started if there is none in your soil at the time of application.

I’d like to get consultation additional to starting with the Regenerative Soil Primer; how much does that cost?

We’d love to help customize a regenerative program for your commercial farm; please contact us to get our services pricing!

Hear from the growers

John Kempf and grower Lennis Koehn discuss the significant yield increases seen on dryland corn in Kansas using the Soil Health program from AEA.

Ted Bruns, a Nebraska farmer, describes how Canada thistles spreading and overtaking his fields were drastically reduced after the use of AEA's Soil Health program.

Owner of Lynd Fruit Farm Andy Lynd describes how his orchard soil changed from lifeless and hard to full of biological and earthworm activity with AEA's Soil Health program.
