Field Technician Position

Technician for Soil and Plant Health Consultant


Job Summary


The technician will work closely with the consultant, managing and building the customer base and at the same time gain the experience needed to be an AEA Soil and Plant Health Consultant. 


Job Objectives:

  • Learn agronomic consulting skills while assisting experienced consultants. Manage, maintain and build clientele.

  • Reduce the workload of the consultant by 50% in 3 months by working with customers. 

  • Write nutritional programs for customers from consultant notes. 

  • Communicate with customers and screening calls to reduce the workload of the consultant.
  • Answer basic customer questions. 
  • Help increase the consultant's active customer base in first 6 months by 40%.
  • Improve customer retention by 3%.
  • Be ready to manage and maintain a customer base of 100 by the end of the first year. 


Job Duties:

  • Create and manage extraordinary customer relationships for assigned territory.

  • Regularly identify and evaluate customer needs through on-site visits.

  • Collect and analyze customer agronomic data.

  • Consistently promote products and services to new and existing customers.

  • Maintain excellent client records.

  • Organize and conduct field trials.

  • Research and make agronomic recommendations.

  • Organize presentations, demonstrations, training, field days, and farm walks.

  • Communicate effectively (both in writing and orally) with current and potential customers.

  • Stay informed about industry and company developments.

  • Properly manage administrative duties (i.e., accounts receivable, update information, prepar­e/deliver reports, etc.)

  • Solicit references and success stories for promotional purposes.

  • Represent AEA at trade shows and conferences.

  • Perform any other related duties for the company as needed.

Sales Agronomist Position

Advancing Eco Agriculture is a rapidly growing regenerative agriculture plant nutrition inputs and consulting company, looking for sales agronomists to join our team. The objective of this position is to rapidly build sales by developing and supporting distributors and key retail accounts. The ideal candidate will become the market leader in the geographic region.


The Sales Agronomist will be responsible for developing new distribution relationships, as well as managing currently existing relationships. Major tasks and responsibilities:

  • Responsible for developing and supporting distributors and select retail customers

  • Training and supporting distributor team members

  • Serve as a technical resource for distributors on customer calls

  • Constantly evaluate customer needs and build productive long-lasting relationships

  • Consistently touch base with customers and provide ongoing education 

  • Interpret multiple types of soil, plant, and water quality analysis

  • Create agronomic recommendations and product application guidelines

  • Collaborate closely with other team members and help to build a unified team

  • Meet team and personal engagement and sales targets

  • Research accounts and follow through on sales leads

  • Attend meetings, sales events, and training to keep abreast of the latest development

  • Provide crop scouting and in field support as needed to maintain key accounts 

  • Manage personal time and energy very consciously and intentionally

  • Constantly solicit customer feedback and testimonials

  • Help develop and maintain sales and promotional materials

  • Lead the resolution of customers complaints

  • Follow credit policies and help manage risk

  • Identify specific nutritional needs and opportunities coming from the field 



Key Requirements:

  • Demonstrated successful agricultural sales experience

  • Exceptionally strong agronomic background

  • BA/BS degree in either, agronomy, crop science, soil science, biology, horticulture, plant physiology or environmental science. You may also have a degree in sales, marketing, or business with an ag-related minor  

  • Possess or willing to obtain CCA certification

  • Experience in plant nutrition, soil science or other agriculture related science - technical understanding of plant nutrition is essential

  • Exceptional presentation and pitching skills

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Overnight travel and long seasonal hours are a necessity, must be willing to travel 45-60 nights per year

  • Intimate knowledge of agriculture production practices, knowledge of fruit and vegetable crops a big plus

  • Proficient with computers
